What LaTavia Has To Say About Destiny's Child Split 12 Years Later

After 12 years of the departure of original members Letoya Luckett and Latavia Roberson of Destiny's Child, Latavia had some positive things to say about her former group members. While Beyonce and Kelly went on with DC and Letoya opened her own boutique, LaTavia experienced a couple of hardships throughout the years. In 2006, LaTavia failed a drug test while on probation for a driving offense and was taken to jail. Now, LaTavia is getting her life together and will be releasing her lingerie line soon. Last year, she even made a television appearance on the "The Housewives Of Atlanta," where she was shown speaking to housewive Phedra about Destiny's Child's, getting her career and life on track.
Check out the video of LaTavia on Atlanta Housewives:
Well, recently the former DC group member sat down with United Kingodon's "The Mirror to reminisce on the memories with her ex group members/sisters (LaTavia made it clear that the four members were like sisters and are STILL sisters). Roberson discussed her former manager Matthew Knowles, the current state of her relationship with Kelly, and what she regrets today.
Check out a couple excerpts from the interview:
Mathew Knowles strict management style:
We used to call him Joe Jackson. It’s not like he beat us or anything, but he was very strict. Beyonce was the only one brave enough to stand up to him. We worked really hard. It was rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. That’s what our days consisted of. Looking back, working that hard did cost us our childhood. But at the time were just focused on living out our dreams.
Destiny's Child group salaries:
Things seemed unfair. Beyonce and Kelly had cars. I’m not saying paychecks were any different, but Mathew used to say a lot of crazy things like: Y’all should be glad I’m giving you money.
How Kelly Rowland was treated by Mathew Knowles:
He was very hard on her. He bawled at her after a gig in Atlanta in 1997. ‘Where were you tonight Kelly? I watched you mess up 12 steps,” he said. Kelly was the sensitive one so she would go to her room and cry.
Current relationship with Kelly:It’s amazing how well Kelly has done since then. She has really blossomed and for me it has been fantastic to watch her become this strong, independent woman. She is an inspiration to anyone, and I am glad to call her my friend.
What she regrets today:My one regret is that I should have spoken to Beyonce and Kelly before I sent the letter [requesting new management]. That is the one thing I would have done different. I would have gone to my sisters and discussed it with them. After that, we didn’t speak for many years.
