Its a shame how Tyler Perry continues to be criticized for his work as a director and producer. Recently, CNN's "New Room" had a debate on Tyler Perry's movies and tv shows being BUFFOONERY OR OPPORTUNITY? Music journalist and cultural critic Toure and Dr. Boyce Watkins (finance professor at Syracuse University) were guests on the news show, where both men were on opposite sides of the subject.
Toure described Perry to be one of the worst directors in Hollywood:
"He's willfully ignorant o the craft, and I can think of no aspect of the filmmaking craft that he excels at, certainly not acting or writing or cinematography or directing or set design.
Toure goes on to say:
"He's telling black women it's okay to feel like a victim. It's cinematic Malt Liquor....."
